Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan

Yerlan Koshanov was born in 1962 in the Karaganda region. In 1984, he graduated from the Karaganda Polytechnic Institute. In 1999, he graduated from the Kazakh State Academy of Management.
After graduation, he worked as a mechanic and foreman at the Zhezkazgan Mining and Metallurgical Plant.
In 1988–1990, he was an instructor at the department for working and rural youth and head of the department for social and economic issues of the youth at the Zhezkazgan Regional Committee of the Lenin Communist Youth Union of Kazakhstan.
1990–1995: leading specialist, head of division, deputy chairman and chairman of the Zhezkazgan Regional Committee for Foreign Economic Relations.
1995–1999: deputy of the Senate of the National Assembly of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
1999–2001: representative of the Government in the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
2001–2003: deputy head of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan and representative of the Government in the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
2003–2006: Vice Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
2006–2007: chaired the Committee for Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
2007–2012: deputy head of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan and representative of the Government in the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
2012–2017: head of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
2017–2019: akim of the Karaganda region.
2019–2022: head of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
On February 1, 2022, he was elected Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
He was awarded the Order of Barys, First Class (2021), Order of Parasat (2013), Order of Kurmet (2007) and commemorative medals.
He speaks Kazakh, Russian and German languages.
