A meeting of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization will take place remotely on June 15, 2020
The meeting will consider topical issues of ensuring international, collective and national security amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, will focus on priority issues of the Russian Federation during its 2020 presidency of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
Meeting participants will consider the issue of approval of the Chairman of the Standing Commission on Socioeconomic and Legal Issues of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly. Sergei Pospelov, CSTO PA Executive Secretary, will nominate a candidacy of the Chairman of the Standing Commission.
Stanislav Zas, Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, will report to the Council members on the results of the November (2019) session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, on the situation in the CSTO area of responsibility, on measures taken to counter collective-security challenges and threats and on ratification of international treaties concluded within the CSTO.
Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, will focus on the Russian Federation’s priority issues during its 2020 presidency of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
Anatoly Vyborny, Chairman of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Standing Commission on Defence and Security and a member of the State Duma’s Commission on Security and Corruption Control, Igor Lavrinenko, Chairman of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Standing Commission on Socioeconomic and Legal Issues and deputy Chairman of the Standing Commission on National Security of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and Alen Simonyan, Chairman of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Standing Commission on Political Affairs and International Cooperation and Vice-Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, will report to the members of the CSTO PA Council on the implementation of the 2016–2020 Action Plan of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization on Approximation and Harmonization of the National Legislation of the CSTO Member States and draft 2012–2025 Action Plan of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization on Approximation and Harmonization of the National Legislation of the CSTO Member States.
The CSTO PA Council participants are going to pay special attention to the issue concerning the coronavirus and possible legislative proposals in order to develop comprehensive security measures in case of pandemics.
In addition, the Council members will consider the issue of financing the activities of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and determine the time and venue of the regular session of the CSTO PA Council and of the thirteenth Plenary Session of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, as well as the list of issues to be included in the draft agenda.
The heads of the parliamentary delegations of the CSTO Member States – the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan – will participate in the work of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Council, together with the CSTO PA observers, including representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, the Wolesi Jirga of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, and representatives of the CSTO and CSTO PA secretariats.
