April 2 is the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia

Today is the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia. On April 2, 1996, the Presidents of the two states signed the Treaty on the Establishment of the Community of Belarus and Russia.

"Establishing the Union State allowed our countries to confidently move forward towards integration, developing trade, economic, scientific, technical and humanitarian ties," Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, noted in his congratulatory speech.

He wished the Belarusian colleagues and all the citizens of the Republic of Belarus "peace, prosperity and all the best."
