Kazakhstan celebrates Republic Day on October 25. As you may recall, Republic Day was declared a bank holiday in October 1995, to be abolished in 2009. However, in 2022, on the initiative of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, it was reinstated as a bank holiday.
“Republic Day should become a symbol of the country’s bold step towards statehood. Of course, the original meaning of Independence Day will be preserved. This day remains the main national holiday. However, it should be celebrated as a day of remembrance of our national heroes who made a significant contribution to gaining independence,” the President said at the time.
Festive events will be held in all regions of Kazakhstan. Sports competitions, concerts, environmental and patriotic events, festivals and cycling tours will be held. The commissioning of new facilities is traditionally timed to the holiday. The celebrations will end with an evening fireworks display.
