Ashimbayev: It Is Important for the CSTO Member States to Strengthen Domestic Political Stability
Today in Astana, as part of the monitoring mission for the constitutional referendum in Kazakhstan, a group of international observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly met with the Chairman of the Senate of the Kazakhstan's Parliament.
The delegation of observers, led by Kyrgyzstan’s representative Ulukbek Uzakbaev, was received by the Chairman of the Senate Maulen Ashimbayev.
Maulen Ashimbayev stressed that holding an open, honest and fair referendum is a priority for Kazakhstan. He also pointed out that the CSTO PA mission plays an important role in ensuring an objective assessment of the electoral process.
"The work of the CSTO PA mission is very valuable to us. Given the complex global situation, security issues are of paramount importance. And our new Constitution is, in many ways, our response to modern challenges. The next step is to create a legal framework that will ensure stable and secure development of our country and strengthen the domestic political stability in the CSTO Member States," Maulen Ashimbayev noted.
Ulukbek Uzakbaev, the head of the CSTO PA observer group, thanked the Chairman, emphasizing that the Assembly delegation will strictly adhere to the principles of political neutrality, objectivity, and non-interference in the internal affairs of the state.
Ulukbek Uzakbaev also stressed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening integration processes within the CSTO.
As you may recall, the Republican referendum on the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan is scheduled for March 15, 2026. The full text of the draft Constitution is available here.
