Hayk Chilingaryan: Close coordination of our delegations at international platforms is important to us
“We have great potential and need to coordinate work between the parliamentary platform and the Collective Security Treaty Organization,” Hayk Chilingaryan, deputy CSTO PA Executive Secretary and Plenipotentiary Representative of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia to the CSTO PA, said in his speech during the working meeting between plenipotentiary representatives of the CSTO Member States to the CSTO and plenipotentiary representatives of the CSTO Member States’ parliaments to the CSTO PA.
“Allow me to follow my colleagues who spoke before me and recall that the CSTO PA should have a legal status to stimulate closer cooperation,” said Hayk Chilingaryan.
“Currently the Parliamentary Assembly is a constituent part of the IPA CIS, and this legal oversight should be corrected. This issue is prominent among the priorities of the Republic of Armenia’s presidency in the CSTO,” he stressed.
Deputy Executive Secretary of the CSTO PA and Plenipotentiary Representative of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia to the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly justified the necessity of formalizing the Assembly’s legal status by the fact that “parliamentary diplomacy can help neutralize different conflict situations within the CSTO area of responsibility and beyond.”
Hayk Chilingaryan recalled that another priority of the Republic of Armenia’s presidency in the CSTO is harmonization of the CSTO Member States’ legislation for more effective work within the alliance. He stressed, “Our communication at international platforms should be more effective and productive. We should have a common vector, there should be no disagreements on this or that issue. I hope that our organization will present a united front in the international arena.”
