Bair Zhamsuyev: Parliamentary Elections Have Proved the Maturity of Democracy in Kyrgyzstan
Bair Zhamsuyev, member of the CSTO PA international group of observers, deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, noted that the November 30 elections demonstrated the maturity of the Republic's democratic institutions.
According to him, the recent elections confirmed the country's course towards stability.
The parliamentarian stressed that Russia intends to continue constructive interparliamentary cooperation with Kyrgyzstan and dialogue on all key areas of the bilateral agenda, as well as within the CSTO and other international organizations.
"Kyrgyzstan took a careful approach to this year's early elections. New technologies and all government bodies were actively involved. There was no pressure from officials, complete transparency was ensured. Everything was done to facilitate a good turnout, transparency and strict compliance with national legislation. We visited a number of polling stations in Bishkek and Moscow. It is clear that members of the election commissions take their duties very seriously and that people are committed to ensuring that the elections are conducted at a high level. This is a huge task. We hope that the results are good and the elected deputies will soon be able to assume their posts and work for the benefit of the Kyrgyz Republic," said Bair Zhamsuyev.
He also expressed confidence that the renewed parliament will increase the efforts to improve legislation, develop regional cooperation and implement joint projects within the framework of Eurasian integration.
