Baktybek Bekbolotov, Secretary of the Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic, gave an interview to the information and analytical journal "Allies. CSTO", sharing the key approaches and initiatives within the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
According to Bekbolotov, successful cooperation between the CSTO Member States is ensured by a common view of the situation in the world and similar, often identical, positions on security issues. It allows to effectively respond to modern challenges and threats, as well as develop coordinated measures to eliminate them within the Organization's area of responsibility.
"The CSTO has all the necessary tools to effectively address challenges and threats. In addition, in crisis situations, the Organization makes decisions lightning-fast," Baktybek Bekbolotov pointed out.
The Secretary paid special attention to the results of the recent CSTO International Conference on Cybersecurity. According to Bekbolotov, those results will make a significant contribution to the development of trust-based relations between the countries, strengthening digital security and developing a common approach to countering current cyber threats. He also suggested giving the forum a special name – "Issyk-Kul Cyber Initiative", emphasizing the expediency of holding the event permanently in Kyrgyzstan or on a rotary basis in the CSTO countries.
Bekbolotov noted that along with typical challenges such as terrorism, extremism, transnational crime, drug trafficking and illegal migration, the CSTO states also face less apparent but no less dangerous threats spreading through information and cyberspace, as well as in the ideology sphere.
"For the sake of ensuring security and stability, achieving sustainable development goals and strengthening good-neighborly relations, the CSTO Member States are interested in the areas of international cooperation rooted in equal dialogue based on mutual respect, and preservation of the principles of law supremacy, respect for historical and cultural differences of countries, and avoidance of double standards," the Secretary of the Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic concluded.
