Rahmon and Japarov Discuss Regional Security in Dushanbe
On October 9, on the eve of the CIS summit, Sadyr Japarov, President of Kyrgyzstan, and Emomali Rahmon, President of Tajikistan, met in Dushanbe.
During the meeting, the leaders discussed bilateral relations, as well as regional security issues and prospects for further cooperation in different fields.
Emomali Rahmon praised the progress the two countries have made in bilateral cooperation, stressing that Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan work closely within regional and international organizations as well.
Sadyr Japarov expressed his gratitude for the invitation to the meeting of the Council of Heads of the CIS and the Russia–Central Asia Summit. He also spoke of deep historical ties between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
The parties agreed to make joint efforts to strengthen security and stability in the region, as well as to foster cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral formats.
