OSCE and CSTO secretaries general agree to strengthen cooperation
The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) intend to strengthen cooperation, TASS quotes Helga Schmid, OSCE Secretary General, as saying this on Tuesday, during a meeting with Stanislav Zas, CSTO Secretary General.
“Let me say that both the OSCE and the CSTO support cooperation in some areas, but there are also some areas of cooperation where we could strengthen our interaction,” Ms Schmid said.
Ms Schmid recalled that the OSCE Forum for Security Cooperation mentioned the need to promote dialogue on securing borders in order to counter terrorism and organized crime, as well as to combat drug trafficking. In his turn, Stanislav Zas, CSTO Secretary General, said that the CSTO is ready to increase the participation of OSCE representatives in its activities.
“We intend to continue to hold meetings at such a high level. We should increase mutual participation in each other’s events. We are ready to increase the participation of the OSCE representatives in our events: both in the military and in other areas of security,” he said.
