Konstantin Avershin: State Duma Elections Meet High-Tech Standards

International observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly continue monitoring the State Duma elections in Russia.

Following his monitoring work at the polling stations in Moscow on 18 September, Konstantin Avershin, deputy Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Defence and Security of the Kurultai of the Republic of Kazakhstan, said that the voting meets high technological standards and takes place without any disruptions.

Konstantin Avershin noted that election commissions at the polling station are ready to handle any workload.

"We are observing smooth and highly efficient work of the election commissions. No violatons or disruptions occured on the first day of our monitoring of the State Duma elections," the parliamentarian said.

He paid particular attention to the logistics and management of voter flows. Thanks to effective guidance at polling stations and the use of electronic registers, commission members are managing to avoid crowds even during peak turnout hours. Minor technical glitches, according to the observer, are promptly resolved by on-site IT specialists within minutes and have no impact whatsoever on the overall conduct of the vote.

"We can confidently say that the State Duma elections are being conducted efficiently, meeting high technological standards. The digital solutions and modern equipment have not only sped up the work of the election commissions, but also provided us, the observers, with the most convenient and objective tools for monitoring compliance with all the voter rights," Konstantin Avershin concluded.
