Aleksandr Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin Discussed Security Issues in Minsk
On May 23-24, Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, is in Belarus on an official visit at the invitation of Aleksandr Lukashenko, President of the Republic.
Today, the two leaders of the CSTO States had meetings in a restricted and in an expanded formats at the Independence Palace in Minsk.
On the Russian side, the meeting was attended by Yuri Ushakov, Assistant to the President, Denis Manturov, First deputy Prime Minister, Alexander Novak, deputy Prime Minister, Andrei Belousov and Sergei Lavrov, Defence and Foreign Ministers respectively.
The leaders of Belarus and Russia discussed the development of bilateral relations, strategic partnership, as well as integration cooperation and current international issues.
Vladimir Putin emphasized that security issues are always in the focus of attention of Moscow and Minsk. He added that Russia and Belarus will continue to strengthen cooperation in defence security.
Aleksandr Lukashenko stated that Minsk and Moscow will continue moving towards strengthening integration. “We are supporting and will support each other,” he added.
Before arriving at the Independence Palace, Vladimir Putin laid a wreath at the Victory Monument in Minsk.
