Two CSTO Draft Laws Submitted to the Mazhilis of Kazakhstan
Deputies of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan accepted two draft laws regulating the activities of the Collective Security Treaty Organization. The first draft law ratifies the protocol amending the Agreement on the Status of Forces and Assets of the CSTO Collective Security System of December 10, 2010.
"The agreement regulates the legal basis for the temporary stay of formations, forces and assets of the collective security system on the territory of the parties, as well as determines their status. The amendments provide for an expansion of the grounds for sending formations to the territory of the parties, such as crisis prevention, humanitarian assistance and surprise inspections," explained the Mazhilis deputy Aigul Kuspan.
Committee on International Affairs, Defence and Security accepted the draft law for consideration and will prepare a report on it.
The second draft law involves the ratification of the protocol amending the Agreement of September 15, 2015, on Transportation of Military and Other Formations, their Movable Property, as well as Military Goods.
"The amendments are intended to improve the legal framework related to the CSTO and the provision of necessary transportation. In addition, the amendments are aimed at increasing the level of efficiency in the organization and execution of the transportation of military and other formations, in the event of immediate measures being taken while performing the designated tasks. The committee is ready to take up the law and prepare a report on it," Aigul Kuspan said.
