Kazakh and Russian Foreign Ministers Meet in Moscow
Today, April 11, Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister, met with Murat Nurtleu, Kazakhstan’s new Foreign Minister, to discuss the bilateral agenda, including cooperation within the CSTO.
“We discussed topical international issues, and we share the opinion that Russian–Kazakh cooperation, including within the Collective Security Treaty Organization, is a significant factor in maintaining stability in Central Asia that contributes to strengthening pan-Eurasian security as a whole,” Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister, said after talks with Murat Nurtleu.
A ceremony of signing the 2023–2024 action plan on cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan also took place in Moscow.
As you may recall, on April 3, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a decree appointing Murat Nurtleu, who was previously the President’s Chief of Staff, as deputy Prime Minister and head of the Foreign Ministry. Today’s visit to the Russian Federation took place at the invitation of the Russian side.
