Russian and Armenian foreign ministers discuss regional security in a telephone conversation
On August 2, Sergei Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, had a telephone conversation with Ararat Mirzoyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, to discuss regional security issues, particularly in the context of the implementation of arrangements made during the official visit to Russia of Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, on April 19–20 and contacts between the leaders of the states on the margins of the CSTO Summit on May 16. According to the website of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the bilateral plan focuses on the status and prospects for further strengthening of Russian–Armenian ties.
The parties reviewed the progress in the implementation of the trilateral high-level agreements of November 9, 2020, January 11 and November 26, 2021. They reaffirmed their commitment to their comprehensive and effective implementation, particularly concerning the launch of project activities aimed at making available transport and economic links in the South Caucasus, demarcating the Armenian–Azerbaijani border and normalizing relations between Yerevan and Baku.
The parties appreciated the high level of interaction between Moscow and Yerevan within the framework of Eurasian integration structures.
The parties also aligned a bilateral action plan for the near future.
