CSTO PA Mission Arrives in Astana to Monitor the Constitutional Referendum
On March 12, a group of international observers from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization arrived in Astana.
As you may recall, by decision of Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, a group of international observers from the CSTO PA was formed to monitor the preparation and conduct of the referendum – on March 15, Kazakhstani citizens will vote on the draft of the new Constitution of the Republic.
Ulukbek Uzakbaev, deputy Chairman of the Committee on Law and Order, Combating Crime and Counteraction to Corruption of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, has been appointed coordinator of the group.
During the visit, a number of official meetings with the heads of the highest state authorities and election management bodies are to take place.
On election day, March 15, CSTO PA international observers will monitor the elections at polling stations in Astana from the moment they open at 7:00 until the end of the vote count, following their individual routes.
