Today, November 23, at the CSTO summit in Minsk, former commander of the Airborne Troops of the Russian Federation Andrei Serdyukov was appointed the new Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff.
“Colonel-General Andrei Serdyukov has been approved as the CSTO Joint Chief of Staff,” Imangali Tasmagambetov, CSTO Secretary General, announced.
Serdyukov was the commander of the Russian Airborne Troops from 2016 to 2022. After that he commanded the Russian grouping of troops in Syria. He graduated from the Ryazan Higher Airborne Command School (1983), Frunze Military Academy (1993) and the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (2009).
In 2020, Colonel-General Andrei Serdyukov was awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation.
As you may recall, representatives of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly regularly take part in military exercises and other events of the Organization's Joint Staff.
