At a meeting of the Federation Council Committee on Defence and Security, Sergei POSPELOV, Executive Secretary of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, reported on the implementation of the 2016–2020 CSTO PA Action Plan on Approximation and Harmonization of National Legislation of the CSTO Member States and on the progress of the draft 2021–2025 CSTO PA Action Plan on Approximation and Harmonization of National Legislation of the CSTO Member States.
According to Sergei POSPELOV, the issue of drafting the 2021–2025 CSTO PA Action Plan on Approximation and Harmonization of National Legislation of the CSTO Member States was supported by the CSTO PA Council at its meeting on November 5, 2019.
Implementation progress of the current 2016–2020 CSTO PA Action Plan on Approximation and Harmonization of National Legislation of the CSTO Member States is 80 per cent. Work is currently under way on the remaining 10 projects, to be completed in 2020.
Sergei POSPELOV noted that a significant part of the model acts developed in the CSTO PA are model acts thematically relevant to the Federation Council Committee on Defence and Security.
Victor BONDARYEV, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Defence and Security, asked a question that particularly interested the senators. He enquired about the implementation progress of the model legislative acts in the legislation of the CSTO Member States.
Senator Franz KLINTSEVICH was interested in the work on the model law On Military Veterans.
Olga KOVITIDI, a senator from the Republic of Crimea, once again raised the issue of coordination of actions of the CSTO Member States’ parliamentary delegations on international venues.
The CSTO PA Executive Secretary reminded about the current development of the Regulation on Coordination of Actions of the CSTO Member States’ Parliamentary Delegations in International Parliamentary Organizations at the instruction of the Federation Council Defence and Security Committee.
