CSTO PA turns 16

Today the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization turns 16 years old.
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization was established in several stages.
In 1999, the Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States adopted a decision whereby the parliamentary delegations representing IPA CIS Member States – participants of the Collective Security Treaty (CST) began to consider legal issues within the IPA CIS that would contribute to the implementation of the Treaty.
On November 16, 2006, a decree was adopted establishing the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
On November 24, 2016, Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the 7th convocation, was elected Chairman of the CSTO PA.
