CSTO Parliamentarians Visit Situation Election Observation Centre at Public Chamber of Russian Federation
The CSTO PA delegation of international observers visited the Situation Public Election Observation Centre for the State Duma elections, based at the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation.
During the visit, the mission members familiarized themselves with the Centre's infrastructure and the mechanisms for independent oversight of the electoral process. Operating from 17 to 21 September, the Public Chamber's Situation Centre coordinates the monitoring of the voting process and conducts an expert assessment of the election campaign.
CSTO PA observers got acquainted with the Centre's working procedures, including the organization of specialized events. During the voting period, the Centre hosts daily press briefings and roundtables for electoral analysis, public oversight and monitoring of all forms of citizen participation in electons, including remote electronic voting (REV).
The visit to the Situation Centre allowed international observers to experience the public oversight capabilities firsthand, as well as the technological capabilities of systems used to monitor the transparency of elections in Russia.
