On November 5, 2019 Yerevan hosted the twelfth plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
The plenary session participants unanimously elected Vyacheslav VOLODIN as Chairman of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and Sergei POSPELOV as its Responsible Secretary, whose duties he had been discharging since this May.
The CSTO Parliamentary Assembly has adopted model laws and recommendations made at the initiative of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly permanent commissions:
– the CSTO model law On Non-State Entities in Ensuring National Security; the recommendations to:
– improve the national legislation of CSTO Member States regarding the operation of collective peacekeeping forces;
– bring closer the legislation of CSTO Member States on confiscation of property in the interests of combating corruption, financing terrorism and other types of crime;
– harmonize the CSTO Member States’ legislation to ensure internal stability and counter external destructive technologies aimed at social and political destabilization;
– provide collective humanitarian support in response to emerging crises in the CSTO Member States;
– improve the national legislation of the CSTO Member States in the area of combating Nazism and its manifestations;
– develop a recommended list of criminal wrongdoings and administrative offences in the area of ensuring information security of individuals, society and the state for the CSTO Member States.
The CSTO Parliamentary Assembly sent the adopted model laws and recommendations to the parliaments of the CSTO Member States to be used in improving their national legislation.
Parliamentarians amended Article 9 of the Provisional Regulations on the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (March 30, 2007).
