President of Kazakhstan and CSTO Secretary General Discussed International Security
On April 13, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, met with Taalatbek Masadykov, Secretary General of the CSTO, the CSTO website reports.
Taalatbek Masadykov congratulated Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the adoption of Kazakhstan’s new Constitution, expressing his conviction that it would give a significant boost to the country’s all-round development.
The parties discussed a wide range of international politics and security issues and raised serious concern regarding developments in the Middle East. They paid special attention to the situation in Afghanistan. In this regard, CSTO Secretary General provided an update on the implementation of the Collective Security Treaty Organization’s Targeted Interstate Program on Strengthening the Tajik-Afghan border.
Speaking of the most important areas of current joint work, Taalatbek Masadykov named preparations for the upcoming meetings of the statutory bodies—the Council of Foreign Ministers, the Council of Defence Ministers and the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils of the Organization.
In addition, Taalatbek Masadykov reported on the progress of the Action Plan for the implementation of the decisions of the CSTO CSC session in November 2025 and the implementation of the Organization’s priority activities during Russia’s chairmanship, as well as preparations for a series of large-scale joint exercises scheduled for the second half of this year, including Rubezh-2026, which will take place at the Koktal training ground in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
