The President of Kazakhstan Receives Nurlanbek Shakiev, Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan

On June 26, a Jogorku Kenesh delegation led by Nurlan Shakiyev, its Toraga, arrived in Astana on an official visit at the invitation of Maulen Ashimbayev, Chairman of the Senate of Kazakhstan.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, welcoming the Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan, stressed the importance of deepening inter-parliamentary relations between the two CSTO Member States. He noted that today the Kazakh–Kyrgyz relations are developing dynamically, thanks to the interaction between governments and parliaments.

According to him, the agreements reached would give an important impetus to many areas of multifaceted interaction between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

In turn, Nurlanbek Shakiyev thanked the President of Kazakhstan for the warm welcome, and also conveyed words of greeting on behalf of Sadyr Japarov, President of the Kyrgyz Republic. In addition, he expressed support for the reforms taking place in Kazakhstan.

As part of his visit today, Nurlan Shakiyev is also scheduled to meet with Yerlan Koshanov, Chairman of the Majilis.

As you may recall, Nurlan Shakiyev and Yerlan Koshanov are members of the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly.
