Tajik President Receives Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov
On June 6, Emomali Rakhmon, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, met with Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister, in Dushanbe.
During his official visit to the Republic, the Russian diplomat said that Russia will continue to assist Dushanbe in modernizing Tajikistan’s armed forces.
In addition, the Russian foreign minister expressed gratitude to Tajikistan for enabling the operation of the 201st Russian military base “to ensure that it performs all its tasks, that exercises and manoeuvres are carried out together with the Tajik military not only for Tajikistan but for all CSTO countries.”
Sergei Lavrov also met with his Tajik counterpart Sirodjiddin Mukhriddin, with whom they discussed the implementation of agreements on military and technical cooperation, including the implementation of Tajikistan’s armed forces modernization programme.
