Putin and Pashinyan Expressed Confidence in Strengthening Ties Between Russia and Armenia
A meeting between Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, and Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, took place yesterday at the Kremlin.
Vladimir Putin pointed out that relations between Russia and Armenia have been evolving not for decades but centuries.
"We are united by shared history and by our joint efforts to solve common challenges in the past. And by our shared civilization community, which is extremely important," Vladimir Putin emphasized.
The parties discussed bilateral relations in the economic, energy and other sectors.
"I hope that regardless of the outcome of the elections in Armenia, our shared commitment to building and strengthening Russian-Armenian relations will remain unchanged," the Russian leader said.
The Prime Minister of Armenia called Russian-Armenian relations "very profound" and important.
"You certainly know that both Russian-Armenian relations and our personal relations have gone through many trials over the past few years. And I am very glad and would like to thank you once again for the atmosphere of trust that you personally put an effort in creating. It is obvious that if you had not wanted us to have such open, trusting relations, I would not have been able to achieve this on my own, and I want to thank you once again. I am sure that following our upcoming elections, democracy and the people’s power in Armenia will grow further and our relations too will keep going strong," Nikol Pashinyan stated.
As you may recall, the talks took place ahead of the parliamentary elections in Armenia, which are scheduled for June 7.
