Within the CSTO framework, the preparation of a dedicated programme for providing the air assault brigade of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan (a part of the CSTO CRDF) with military equipment and weapons has been completed.
This was reported by Sputnik news agency with reference to the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Tajikistan Igor Lyakin-Frolov.
“Against the background of threats to regional security emanating from Afghanistan, military and military-technical cooperation between Russia and Tajikistan is particularly important,” said Lyakin-Frolov.
According to the ambassador, the most important component of such cooperation is the deployment of the 201st Russian military base in Tajikistan.
Lyakin-Frolov added that Russia pays special attention to strengthening the combat and personnel potential of the Tajik Armed Forces. The ambassador recalled that Moscow helps the republic with arms and equipment.
“This autumn, the republic received a radar system, armoured reconnaissance and patrol vehicles, as well as a missile division of the C-300 air defence system,” he concluded.
