Rustam Shokhmurod: Preliminary Turnout Figure of 44.38% Reflects Citizens' Engagement in Electoral Process
CEC Releases Final Turnout Figures for 2nd Day of State Duma Elections.
Turnout stood at 4️⃣4️⃣,3️⃣8️⃣%, Russia's Central Election Commission announced after closing of all polling stations.
According to the CEC, on the first day of voting turnout in the parliamentary elections reached 29.45% by the time polling stations closed nationwide. On the morning of the second day, the figure stood at 30.21%, and by 16:00 Moscow time it has risen to 38.9%.
Along with in-person voting at polling stations, remote electronic voting (REV) is available in 33 regions. It runs 24 hours a day and will end on 20 September at 20:00.
Rustam Shokhmurod, coordinator of the CSTO PA observer group, noted that "the preliminary turnout figure of 44.38% reflects the strong and conscious engagement of Russian citizens in the electoral process."
"The multi-day voting format has proven its effectiveness, helping to avoid queues at polling stations and spread the workload among election commissions. CSTO PA international observers have taken a particular interest in the large-scale use of remote electronic voting (REV) in 33 regions. The REV voting system is available around the clock, which makes the elections much more inclusive and meets modern demands for digitalization. It is a convenient tool that guarantees that voters are able to exercise their right as comfortably as possible, regardless of their schedule or location," Rustam Shokhmurod said.
