On April 12, 2023, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed the Decree “On State Holidays, Public Holidays and Commemorative Dates in the Republic of Belarus”.
In accordance with the Decree, the name of the holiday was changed from “The Day of the State Emblem of the Republic of Belarus and the State Flag of the Republic of Belarus - the second Sunday of May” to “The Day of the State Flag, the State Emblem and the State Anthem of the Republic of Belarus - the second Sunday of May”.
The new name allows paying tribute to all three state symbols of Belarus.
The red stripe on the Belarusian flag symbolizes the courage of the people, green - the color of life and hope, and the white stripe with ornamentation represents purity and high spirituality.
The coat of arms represents the golden outline of the state border of Belarus superimposed on the golden rays of the rising sun above the globe. In the upper part of the field there is a five-pointed red star, and the coat of arms is framed by a wreath of golden ears intertwined with clover and flax flowers.
The national anthem of the Republic shall be sung on solemn occasions, the list of which is established by law.
