Sergei Lavrov Praised Imangali Tasmagambetov's Contribution to the Development of the Collective Security System
Sergei Lavrov, Foreign Minister of Russia, at a meeting with the CSTO Secretary General praised Imangali Tasmagambetov's significant contribution to developing the collective security system and strengthening allied cooperation within the Organization.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the results of the Collective Security Treaty Organization's work in 2025, including the CSTO Collective Security Council session held in Bishkek on November 27.
Imangali Tasmagambetov was elected Secretary General of the Organization on January 1, 2023. From 2026, he will be replaced by the current deputy Secretary General, Taalatbek Masadykov, in compliance with the existing principle of rotation.
As you may recall, on December 8, at the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly meeting in Moscow, the CSTO Secretary General was awarded the Assembly's medal "For strengthening parliamentary cooperation within the CSTO." Parliamentarians also praised Imangali Tasmagambetov's contribution to the development of the Organization.
