CSTO parliamentarians are taking part in the 32nd annual session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. The session is taking place in Porto (Portugal).
The Belarusian delegation is headed by Sergei Rachkov, Chairman of the Standing Commission on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus.
In his speech, Sergei Rachkov underlined that Belarus insists on promptly having a serious discussion of the future Eurasian architecture of security.
According to the head of the Belarusian delegation, this discussion should be based on principles of peace, cooperation, predictability and equality, as well as become part of the preparation of the Charter on Diversity and Multipolarity in the Twenty-first Century.
According to the Belarusian side, the new security architecture should be inclusive, adhere to the principle of indivisible security and respect for the sovereignty and legitimate interests of all states, not isolating any of them from dialog.
As you may recall, the main topic of the session is "The 50th Anniversary of the Helsinki Final Act: Responding to the New Reality in the OSCE." The session is aimed at discussing the adoption by parliaments of participating states of effective legislative measures for strengthening international cooperation, an important prerequisite for ensuring peace and security.
