Sergei Shoigu, Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, had a bilateral meeting with Sherali Mirzo, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Tajikistan, to discuss issues of regional security and military-technical cooperation (MTC).The Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation reports that “the Russian party will continue to increase Tajikistan’s combat potential by supplying military equipment and weapons,” said Sergei Shoigu, Russian Defence Minister, during negotiations with his Tajik counterpart.A meeting of the heads of defence departments of the SCO and CIS Member States was held in Moscow on December 9, 2022.According to TASS, the heads of the defence departments of the SCO and CIS States signed a joint communiqué following the meeting.“As a result of the meeting, a joint communiqué was adopted, reflecting consolidated approaches to solving common security problems,” Sergei Shoigu, Russian Defence Minister, noted.He also said that the meeting participants exchanged views on issues of international security and maintaining regional stability, as well as further cooperation in the military sphere.During the meeting, Colonel General Wei Fenghe, Minister of Defence of the People’s Republic of China, also addressed the military delegations of the SCO and CIS States via video conferencing.As you may recall, Recommendations on Amending and Extending the CSTO Member States’ National Legislation Due to the Implementation of the Agreement on the Status of Forces and Assets of the CSTO Collective Security System Regarding Border and Customs Formalities and Provision of Formations’ Transit Through the Territory of the CSTO Member States were adopted on November 26, 2015.
