Taalatbek Masadykov: Strengthening Interparliamentary Cooperation Will Be a Priority for the CSTO in 2026
The format of interparliamentary cooperation within the Collective Security Treaty Organization has been tested over many years and has proven its effectiveness. Taalatbek Masadykov, CSTO Secretary General, stated that in his speech at the meeting of the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, which took place on April 20 in Moscow.
"Our priority this year will be strengthening the role of interparliamentary cooperation. Granting the Parliamentary Assembly independent legal status as a parliamentary cooperation body in accordance with the CSTO Charter remains a highly important task," Taalatbek Masadykov emphasized.
He pointed out that in 2026, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization will celebrate its 20th anniversary. An international parliamentary conference is to be held to mark this occasion.
"The Organization’s Secretariat is ready to assist in organizing this event at the international level. I am confident that closer coordination of our work will strengthen the CSTO’s potential and contribute to the formation of an effective security space in Eurasia," the CSTO Secretary General concluded.
