Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Sergei Lavrov Discussed Interaction in the CSTO, EAEU and SCO

Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister, arrived in Astana to participate in the SCO Foreign Ministers Council on May 20-21. On May 20, he met with Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, the parties discussed cooperation within the framework of common integration associations – the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Eurasian Economic Union, the CIS, the SCO and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA).  

As noted in the Russian Foreign Ministry, Mr. Tokayev and Mr. Lavrov expressed the mutual readiness of Russia and Kazakhstan to jointly address the entire complex of multidimensional tasks and to implement large-scale plans to strengthen alliance. 

"The parties discussed key aspects of expanding bilateral cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan, as well as interaction within common integration associations – EAEU, CSTO, CIS, SCO and CICA," the Russian Foreign Ministry statement reads.
