Tolstoy: CSTO PA is a tool to defend our countries’ common positions
“It is very important for our CSTO Member States to speak with one voice at international platforms: this is the authority of our organization, this is the protection of our common interests for which the CSTO exists,” said Pyotr Tolstoy, deputy Chairman of State Duma of Federal Assembly of Russian Federation and head of the Russian parliamentary delegation to the OSCE PA, in his speech at the Coordination Meeting of Heads of Parliamentary Delegations of the CSTO Member States to the OSCE PA.
He recalled that during the past year the Russian parliamentary delegation to the OSCE PA collected about 500 European parliamentarians’ signatures in support of the Declaration on the Inadmissibility of the Glorification of Nazism and the Revision of the Results of the Second World War. According to Mr Tolstoy, this topic is extremely important: in recent years a number of states have tried “to write their own history, to revise the history of the European continent and, accordingly, to ‘redefine the roles’ in the Second World War and practically glorify those who destroyed a colossal number of our compatriots, citizens, in the Great Patriotic War.”
“A number of parliamentarians from many countries supported this Declaration, and now we would like to propose this document as a draft Resolution at the OSCE PA session in 2022 and we are very much counting on being supported,” said the head of the parliamentary delegation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation to the OSCE PA.
