Uzbekistan for the first time became a guest of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly

Observers and guests of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly attended the joint remote session of the CSTO PA Council and the 14th plenary session.
Participants of the joint remote session of the CSTO PA Council and the 14th plenary session included the following observers and guests of the Assembly: the delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, an observer to the CSTO PA, chaired by Milovan Drecun, head of the Permanent Delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia to the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and Chairman of the National Assembly’s Committee for Kosovo and Metohija; and, according to Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the CSTO PA and Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, “representatives of the partners: from the People’s Republic of China, from the Islamic Republic of Iran, from the Republic of Uzbekistan (as Vyacheslav Volodin noted, this was the first time a representative of the Republic of Uzbekistan participated in the work of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly) and from the Republic of Cuba.”
According to experts, the fact that Comrade Li Zhanshu, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China, addressed the plenary session of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly indicates a growing interest in the CSTO PA activities within the CSTO parliamentary dimension from parliaments of states outside the Organization.
