Valentina Matviyenko, Chairwoman of the Federation Council, gave a speech at the plenary session at the 150th anniversary IPU Assembly in Tashkent.
In her speech, she underlined that international security challenges are a particular cause for concern.
Chairwoman touched upon the threat of terrorism, including cross-border terrorism.
"We consider the attempts of certain states to use terrorist organizations to achieve their geopolitical goals as particularly dangerous. Playing with terrorists inevitably leads to bloodshed, to a tragedy for civilians," Valentina Matviyenko noted.
Yesterday, on April 6, the CSTO Member States' parliamentary delegations have coordinated their positions on a number of issues, including international security, at the coordination meeting, which is a part of the 150th IPU Assembly.
