Vasily Piskarev: CSTO States’ parliamentarians personally checked combat readiness of the Collective Forces
“It is very important that we went to the training ground of the exercise to repulse a terrorist attack on the territory defended by the CSTO Collective Forces,” said Vasily Piskarev, Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on Security and Corruption Control and a member of the Coordination Council of Chairpersons of Committees (Commissions) on Defence and Security of the Parliaments of the CSTO Member States under the CSTO PA Council, in his commentary on the CSTO Collective Rapid Deployment Force exercise Vzaimodeistvie 2021. “We, parliamentarians, made sure that our states’ security forces are able to jointly counteract any attack by any foe,” he emphasized.
“Modern equipment, modern tactics to repel an attack, ultramodern weapons and ammunition are important, but even more important is that we have shown unity in the fight against international terrorism for the security of our states,” he said.
“I think similar exercises will be held later on as well, we have a great future ahead of us. We go together with our colleagues and friends and we have nothing to fear,” stressed Vasily Piskarev.
As you may recall, representatives of the Coordination Council of Chairpersons of Committees (Commissions) on Defence and Security of the Parliaments of the CSTO Member States under the CSTO PA Council led by Rustam Shohmurod, Chairman of the Coordination Council and Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli Committee on Law, Order, Defence and Security, participated in the active phase of the joint exercise of the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces) at the Kharb-Maidon training ground in the Republic of Tajikistan as part of the military and political monitoring of the situation in the CSTO Central Asian collective security region.
Parliaments of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Member States – the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan – participate in the Vzaimodeistvie 2021 exercise.
One of the areas of parliamentary monitoring of the military and political situation in the CSTO collective security regions is the participation of parliamentarians as observers in joint exercises of the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces) to identify needs for improving the regulatory support for the military security of the CSTO Member States.
