Vladimir Putin held a meeting with the Council of Legislators in the Tauride Palace

The Tauride Palace in St Petersburg hosts a meeting of the Federal Assembly Council of Legislators of the Russian Federation on the Day of Russian Parliamentarianism.

The meeting is co-chaired by Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma, and Valentina Matviyenko, Chairwoman of the Federation Council.

Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the parliamentarians.

“Huge lawmaking experience has been accumulated over three decades,” said the President of Russia, referring to the 30th anniversary of the Russian Parliament.

Members of the Council of Legislators discuss the status of inter-budgetary relations and their use as a tool for ensuring financial stability and socio-economic development of the regions in the new environment, among other issues.

“The main thing for your work is to prioritize concern for citizens and strengthening security,” said Vladimir Putin addressing lawmakers.

As you may recall, the Council of Legislators is an advisory and consultative body to the Russian Parliament. It consists of the heads of the chambers of the Federal Assembly, their deputies, the chairpersons of the relevant committees and the heads of Russian regional lawmaking bodies.

“Parliamentary diplomacy acquires special significance today. The activity of our contacts, including those between the parliaments, is only growing,” stressed the President of the Russian Federation.
