Minister of Defence of the Republic of Belarus invited servicemen of the Republic of Kazakhstan to participate in Zapad 2021 exercise, scheduled for September in Belarus, TASS reports referring to the press service of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Belarus.
The proposal was made during a meeting between Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Belarus, and Lieutenant General Murat Bektanov, first deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Chief of the General Staff. “At the meeting Lieutenant General Khrenin noted the commonality of views on the challenges and threats in the Eastern European and Central Asian regions of CSTO collective security, appreciated the level of military cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Belarus and invited the Kazakh contingent to take part in the West 2021 exercise,” TASS quotes the press service of the Defence Ministry of Belarus.
The first deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Chief of the General Staff and first deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of Belarus Viktor Gulevich discussed the ways to intensify military cooperation in the areas of mutual interest.
“Special attention was paid to increasing the quantity and quality of joint military training activities; increasing the number of training specializations for Kazakh experts in Belarusian military educational institutions and to sharing experience in the patriotic education of youth,” reads the report.
A delegation of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan is on an official visit to Belarus. The delegation visits military units of the Armed Forces and the Military Academy of the Republic of Belarus.
