Vyacheslav Volodin and Maulen Ashimbayev Discussed Inter-Parliamentary Interaction Within the CSTO
At today’s meeting with Maulen Ashimbayev, Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the Russian State Duma, said that the main issue facing the parliaments of Russia and Kazakhstan was legislative harmonization.
“For us, strategic partners, it is extremely important to do our utmost to use the potential of the Eurasian economic framework. And, of course, we are members of the same organization: the CSTO. Therefore, as far as the parliamentary dimension is concerned, issues of harmonization of legislation and drafting of model laws could unite us,” said Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma and Chairman of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly.
The Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan noted that the Presidents of Russia and Kazakhstan could serve as an example, as their positions on many issues are fully aligned.
“For our part, we should follow the example of our leaders and also actively cooperate and work on harmonization of our legislation and resolution of other set tasks,” Maulen Ashimbayev said.
As you may recall, observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly monitored the parliamentary elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Opinion on the observation is available at the official website paodkb.org.
