In Tehran on January 23, Vyacheslav Volodin, State Duma Speaker and CSTO PA Chairman, discussed relations between Moscow and Tehran, including security issues, with Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, President of Iran.
“Russia and Iran promote the formation of a just world order, ensuring global and regional security,” Vyacheslav Volodin said.
According to the website of the State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin also held talks with Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, his Iranian counterpart, in Tehran.
The Speaker of the Russian State Duma said that preservation of sovereignty and independence was of key importance for the two states.
As you may recall, Iran is a permanent participant in the events held by the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly. A delegation of Iranian parliamentarians led by Vahid Jalalzadeh, Chairman of the Islamic Council of Iran's Majlis Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy, attended a CSTO PA meeting on December 5, 2022. During his speech, Vahid Jalalzadeh said that Iran was interested in developing friendly relations with CSTO Members.
