Vyacheslav Volodin: High Voter Turnout in State Duma Elections is Proof of Consolidation of Society
The Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation has officially announced the results of the election to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the 9th convocation.
According to the CEC, the final voter turnout was 59.80%. Based on the election results, the United Russia party retains the constitutional majority in the State Duma, winning 349 seats. Candidates from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (37 seats), the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (23 seats), the New People party (19 seats), and A Fair Russia (17 seats) also won seats in the parliament. A representative of the Rodina party won one seat, and four additional seats went to independent candidates.
Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, noted that the election campaign took place on a competitive basis.
"The elections have shown that the party system is resilient to challenges. It is capable of evolving to overcome them," Vyacheslav Volodin emphasized.
According to the CSTO PA Chairman, the high voter turnout is a solid proof of the consolidation of society and the citizens’ unity. "Support for our President, Vladimir Putin, helped the United Russia party to achieve better results. The people rallied around the President," Vyacheslav Volodin stated confidently.
As you may recall, a group of observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly comprehensively monitored the State Duma elections. Observers from the Assembly worked not only in Moscow and the Moscow region, but also at the polling stations abroad, set up at embassies and consulates of the CSTO Member States, as well as in the Republic of Serbia.
Following the monitoring mission, the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly observer group signed a final report on the observation of the elections of deputies to the 9th convocation of the State Duma, giving an official positive assessment of the organization and conduct of the voting.
