2017 год завершился выходом 40-го номера журнала, которому в декабре исполнилось 10 лет. «Геополитика и безопасность», – пожалуй, один из первых появившихся в Российской Федерации журналов аналитического и научно-практического характера. С 2011 года стали выходить «Вестник Московского университета. Серия XXVII. Глобалистика и геополитика», журнал «Геополитика» на социологическом факультете МГУ им. М. В. Ломоносова. В Крымском федеральном университете им. В. И. Вернадского выходит периодическое издание сугубо географического характера «Геополитика и экогеодинамика регионов». Разумеется, статьи российских авторов по геополитике публикуются во многих других журналах, за которыми порой бывает трудно уследить и составить общее представление о тенденциях развития отечественной геополитической мысли.
