December 12 Is Constitution Day of the Russian Federation
On December 12, Russia celebrates an important public holiday – Constitution Day of the Russian Federation. On this day in 1993, the Constitution of the Russian Federation was adopted by a nationwide vote, becoming the foundation of the rule-of-law state and the guarantor of the rights and freedoms of citizens.
Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, congratulated his compatriots on the holiday.
“Happy Constitution Day of the Russian Federation! Adopted at the national referendum in 1993, the Constitution laid the foundations for the revival of our country, determining the future path of Russia's development as a sovereign social state governed by the rule of law. Meeting today's requirements, the updated regulations of the Constitution help solve the tasks aimed at achieving national goals, ensuring the security of the state and improving the quality of life of people,” Vyacheslav Volodin noted.
