April 2 is the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia
Every year on April 2, the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia is celebrated, which symbolizes the community and friendship of the two countries. The decision to create the Day of Unity was made on April 2, 1996, when the Treaty on the Community of Russia and Belarus was signed.
A year later, the Treaty on the Union of Belarus and Russia was signed. In 1999, the relevant treaty was signed, anchoring the establishment of the Union State.
Belarus and Russia have concluded more than 250 treaties and agreements; they participate in various international and regional organizations, such as CSTO, CIS, EAEU and SCO.
On the Day of the Unity of Peoples, Minsk and Moscow hold celebrations, fairs, concerts and conferences on integration. The creation of a Union State media holding is scheduled for 2025.
CSTO parliamentarians regularly visit Belarus – they participate in the events of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization, jointly work on model legislation, monitor elections and military exercises.
