On the eve of the occasion, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan, delivered a speech at the festive ceremony in Akorda.
"This year, our country has reached an important milestone – 35 years ago, the Declaration on State Sovereignty of Kazakhstan was adopted. It was on this day the tradition of our centuries-old statehood was restored, and the banner of our independence soared high. Historical justice prevailed, and the national spirit grew stronger. Therefore, October 25 is a sacred day that paved the way for the independence of our people," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev pointed out.
As per tradition, on the eve of the Republic Day the President awarded citizens who have made a personal contribution to the development of the country in their daily work.
Andrei Lukin, member of the Coordination Meeting of Chairpersons of Committees on Defence and Security of the Parliaments of the CSTO Member States under the CSTO PA Council, Chairman of the Committee on International Relations, Defence and Security of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, has been awarded the Order of Barys, III degree.
