Andrey Kartapolov: Security is not only the power of arms, but also the power of words

On October 24, joint exercises with the CSTO Peacekeeping Forces concluded at the Fakhrabad training ground in Tajikistan.

Andrei Kartapolov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense and a member of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly monitoring mission that observed the exercises, reiterated the mission's goals.

"Security is not only the power of arms, but also the power of words and the power of law. It's very important that we are here. We see how well-coordinated our Collective Forces are working, how cooperation within the CSTO is strengthening, and how the model acts we adopt during the work of the Organization's Parliamentary Assembly are actually working," Kartapolov noted.

As a reminder, members of the CSTO PA Standing Commission on Defense and Security and the Coordination Meeting of the Heads of Defense and Security Committees of the CSTO Parliaments under the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Council have been participating in the Organization's military exercises as observers since 2012.
