July 26 Is Navy Day in Russia

On July 26, the Russian Federation, chairing state of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in 2026, celebrates one of the country’s major military holidays – Navy Day. Per tradition, this memorable date falls on the last Sunday in July and is an important event in the nation’s military and historical annals. This year’s date holds special historical significance – the Russian Navy is celebrating its 330th anniversary.

The Navy plays a vital role in ensuring Russia’s national security and defending its sovereignty and maritime borders.

The Navy’s high level of combat readiness and its efforts to ensure the safety of shipping make a significant contribution to maintaining stability in the Eurasian region and beyond, which serves the common security interests of the CSTO Member States.

As you may recall, the modern Russian Navy comprises the Northern, Pacific, Baltic and Black Sea Fleets, as well as the Caspian Flotilla. As part of ongoing government programs, the fleet is being systematically modernized: new surface ships for distant and near-sea zones, as well as modern nuclear and diesel-electric submarines, are put into service, and the logistics assets of naval aviation and coastal forces are being upgraded.
