On July 30, 2020, the Kyrgyz Republic observes the Day of National Mourning in memory of coronavirus victims
The President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbai Jeenbekov signed a decree On Declaring July 30, 2020 the Day of National Mourning in the Kyrgyz Republic.
“Since the coronavirus outbreak in the Kyrgyz Republic, the disease has claimed many lives of our compatriots. It is a great loss for all the people of Kyrgyzstan,” the decree says. “With deep sorrow for the dead and sincere condolences to their families and loved ones, it is decreed:
To declare July 30, 2020 the day of national mourning in the Kyrgyz Republic in memory of citizens who became victims of the coronavirus pandemic.”
On that day, state flags were lowered to half-mast throughout the Kyrgyz Republic and on the buildings of diplomatic and consular missions abroad.
Cultural institutions and TV and radio broadcasting companies of the Kyrgyz Republic were recommended to cancel entertainment events and shows on the day of mourning.
As of July 27, 33,296 infection cases were confirmed in the Kyrgyz Republic; 1,301 people died and 21,205 recovered.
The Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic presented the official image of the Day of Mourning in the country.
