May 5 – Constitution Day in the Kyrgyz Republic

May 5 is one of the main national holidays in the Kyrgyz Republic: Constitution Day.

The adoption of the Basic Law on May 5, 1993, was a historic step that laid the legal foundations of the state’s independence, sovereignty and democratic system.

Kyrgyz Republic is a reliable ally and an active member of the Collective Security Treaty Organization. Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic plays a crucial role in the development of interparliamentary cooperation within the CSTO.

Sadyr Japarov, President of Kyrgyzstan, congratulated his compatriots on the occasion.

"Our Constitution is the law with supreme legal force. It defines our national ideology and the main features of national identity. In our multi-ethnic country, it serves as an ideological pivot that strengthens unity and stability, ensuring every citizen of their security. Therefore, respecting each of the Basic Law’s articles should be our most important principle," the President noted.
